Astrophytum myriostigma ‘Kikko Coholense Fukuju’

The Astrophytum myriostigma ‘Kikko Coholense Fukuju’ is a living sculpture — an exceptional hybrid that blends the best traits from three of Japan’s most revered Astrophytum cultivars.

From the Kikko line, it inherits bold, armor-like tubercles that give the surface a turtle-shell texture. The Coholense influence adds a heavier body and deeply channeled ribs, lending mass and structure. Finally, the Fukuju lineage contributes smooth balance and graceful symmetry, often forming six to eight harmonious ribs that radiate like a celestial pattern.

The plant’s surface is dusted with fine white trichomes that shimmer silver under bright light, enhancing every contour of its geometric form. In spring and summer, mature specimens produce soft yellow flowers from the crown, standing in beautiful contrast to the rugged body below.
